Homework

Friday, 11th January 2019

We are introducing a new homework scheme at Elm Tree. All homework will be given out on a Monday and will be returned the following Monday. Mrs Burton and Mr Smith will each be running a homework club once a week where all children are welcome.

Maths:

The children will receive one piece of maths a week, which will be set on Prodigy Games. The year six team are able to set question topics for each individual child. By doing this we can set more specific homework for the children, to help them individually.

English:

Every child will be given their spellings to learn on a Monday, they will be tested on these on a Friday. There will be nothing to return to school for this.

Also, we will be giving the children weekly grammar homework. This will be on spag.com. The children are familiar with this and will have their own individual log on.

Friday, 16th November (due in 22.11.18)

Maths:  Mr Smith's pages 57 and 60

            Mrs Burton's pages 30 and 56

English: Pages 52 and 53

The Perfect Paragraph

One paragraph to be written in Homework Books based on the picture below. It could a description, a paragraph from a letter, an extract from a story or an informative text. However, the sentences must be well-written, with varied openings and excellent vocabulary.

At Elm Tree Primary, we expect our children to read five times a week and to record this in their Reading Records. We would really like our Year 6 children to read a wide variety of books and literature.

Homework Club:

Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes.

Monday, 5th November

Reach for the Stars, Victorian Personalities Project

The children will be researching a Victorian personality for a share afternoon with parents on Monday 26th November at 2pm.

The children will complete their research in their Homework Books and then complete the written work and other tasks in neat to present in their chosen way.

We really hope the children are creative in the presentation of their project. School laptops and tablets will be available in Homework Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
