Spring Term Community Project
We are all very excited in Year 5 about our new community project. This time, we are helping local animals by raising money and finding ways we can support a local animal rescue centre. The children have spent the first morning researching 7 local centres. Once the research was complete, each group presented key information about the charities to the rest of the class so we were able to vote for the one we wanted to help the most. It was lovely to see the children so passionate about helping vulnerable animals.
Autumn Term Community Project
Year 5 have been working on a Community Project all about plastic pollution. We have spent time learning about the impact plastic pollution has on our environment and places around the world. The children were outraged and couldn't believe what was happening around the world. We decided it was time to do something to help so we contacted an organisation called Surfers Against Sewage to ask for their help. We organised a school beach clean-up as part of their Million Mile Beach clean. It was such a success. We couldn't be more proud of how well the children represented Elm Tree. The children even got a round of applause from members of the public for their amazing efforts!
