English Learning

The children worked hard to create sentences about sloths today. Their sentences needed to include two adverbs which can be quite tricky. They used talking pegs to help them remember their sentences before writing them.

Meerkat Mail

We loved looking at the story Meerkat Mail by Emily Gravett. We learnt all about Sunny's adventures and explored how Sunny felt in every new place that he visited. We learnt that you are not able to write lots on a postcard and so you need to use words in their contracted form. The children also learnt about addressing and posting a postcard - learning that a stamp indicates that postage has been paid for.

Aurora the Meerkat then arrived in class and we took her on a trip to Oulton Broad. We visited lots of places around the park and bought our very own postcards.

The children then wrote their postcards, added a stamp and posted them in the post box.

I Really Want to Eat a Child!

by Sylviane Donnio

The children really enjoyed reading and joining in with this story. They began by making predictions as to what may happen in the story. Most children thought that the crocodile would eat a child by the end of the story... but that wasn't meant to be!

We looked at the different emotions of the characters and even began learning about speech punctuation.
