Our Blog

13th January 2020

This month, we spoke about working in the community. The Student Council discussed the idea of going to a care home in order to read to the elderly. We emailed a local residential home to begin creating a link.

9th December 2019

Today, we focused on recycling in our classrooms. The children had already noticed that the school bins were not being used appropriately - lots of recycling was ending up in the black bins and things that are not suitable for recycling was ending up in those bins. The children decided to create a poster that could be placed in all classrooms (see below).

Similarly, the children also complained that a lot of rubbish was being dropped outside. They all drew their own posters to encourage other children (and adults) to stop littering.

18th November 2019

We have elected our chair, Brianna, and vice chair, Olivia. The children explained why they felt they would be good at either being the chair or vice chair and then the student council voted.

Brianna and Olivia have already taken to their roles brilliantly and were leading the meeting excellently - well done to both of them!

We then spoke about Christmas Jumper Day. We have decided that we will be holding a competition to design a new Christmas jumper. Entries will cost 50p and the winners will receive tokens for the school shop.

Children in Need 2019

What a successful "Children in Need" we had this year. The children all looked fantastic in their spots and raised a lot of money through non-uniform donations.

As part of the day, we also held a brilliant fayre after school. Each class was given £10 by Mrs Halliday and were challenged to create a stall in which we would raise money to give Mrs Halliday her £10 back plus profit to send to "Children in Need". This was attended so well by parents and children and there were some very creative stalls.

Amazingly, the total raised for "Children in Need" was...

£1012.83

Thank you so much for all your support.

Comic Relief 2019

We had a brilliant day on Friday fundraising for Comic Relief. After buying from three different places we ended up selling a total of 224 noses which equalled to £280!

The children also gave generously and came in non-school uniform. Some of the Disney characters looked particularly impressive!

We had many children enter our competition to design a Red Nose and the student council judged them. Congratulations to all our winners!

Comic Relief 2019

Comic Relief is fast approaching - Friday 15th March 2019

We are inviting children to come to school either dressed in red, Comic Relief merchandise or as a Disney character. This is in exchange for a £1 donation to the charity.

We are also holding a competition for all year groups. Children need to design their own Comic Relief nose and enter the competition by paying 50p. There will be prizes for Nursery, Reception, Year 1/2, Year 3/4, Year 5/6.

During the week leading up to Comic Relief, the student council will be selling Red Noses. These cost £1.25 and there is even a chance to get a rare green one.

Children in Need 2018

The student council planned their first event of the school year - to raise money for Children in Need.

All children were invited to come into school dressed in Pudsey clothing or anything Spotacular with a donation of £1.

Secondly, children could also enter a colouring competition. We had so many entries and the Student Council voted for their first, second and third.
