York Day 2 2022

York – Day 2

Today we were on the road at 9 am heading for Eden Camp, which is a modern history museum. The weather stayed mainly favourable so we could enjoy both the outside and indoor exhibits.

It was incredible to listen to the children discuss their knowledge of World War II as they walked through the scenes re-created in each of the themed huts. Some of the moving mannequins were a bit creepy but they made the history come to life.

Outside, the children enjoyed the artillery exhibits, wartime vehicles and the Andersen shelters. It was a chance to get up close to objects they had seen in their enquiry lessons. There were some great photo opportunities!

When we left Eden Camp, we headed back to York for our ghost walk. Our amazing storyteller, Matthew Wilkin, led us through the tiny alleyways to places where local legends tell of ghostly whisperings and strange occurrences. Hopefully, our children now have some sinister ideas for their own stories of apparitions.

Another wonderful, yet tiring day had by all!
